About Yummy Brazil
Since 2021
The idea of creating Yummy Brazil came from Roberto Murai’s passion for gastronomy. His love for cooking started when he was seven years old, and he began to learn how to cook foods that he would like to eat since his mother needed to work the entire day. Later in his life, he decided to pursue a degree in physical education due to the lack of financial support to pursue a gastronomy degree. However, he always knew that he would end up working as a cook one day.
When Roberto moved to Canada following his partner’s dream to do his Ph.D. in Biology, Roberto started to work in local gyms. However, to supplement the income, he decided to start working in a restaurant as a dishwasher. Over time, he had the opportunity to start learning how to work as a kitchen helper and later as a line cook, which made his passion for gastronomy return even more potent.
Last year, due to the pandemic, the restaurant he used to work closed permanently. After a long period of unemployed, he started to think about continuing to work as a cook without opening a restaurant since it would be extremely hard in pandemic times. Then came the idea of focusing on a traditional and extremely popular Brazilian catering food popular named “Salgados,” usually served in various events, especially birthday parties. Since it is a food that many Brazilians like and Roberto could work from home and easily set up a delivery logistic, Roberto decided to pursue this idea.
That is how Yummy Brazil was born, with the desire to bring to Canadians a taste that resembles the good things Brazil has to offer to the world.
